  • Catnips was established in 2009 by Anita Kelsey, certified feline behaviour counsellor (MCFBA/CIDBT) and started out as a small intimate cat sitting company servicing the areas of Notting Hill. Catnips was founded during a very difficult period of Anita’s life when she was battling with a very ill cat and the loss of one of her dearest friends. Rather than allow depression to take over she threw herself into her new role as owner of Catnips and built it from the ground up into a very successful business.

It was during her years running Catnips that she started to study cat behaviour but, before enrolling in a two year course with cat biologist and behaviourist, Roger Tabor, she trained 6 days a week, for 5 weeks, in a working cat grooming salon (with the help of her husband and friends who kept Catnips running). After working on hundreds of cats Anita was certified as a master cat groomer and went on to set up a mobile cat grooming business under the umbrella of Catnips. Years of experience working with all kinds of cats has enabled Anita to hone in on an unique cat grooming style which involved the study of low stress handling techniques and a way of working with the cats she grooms rather than working against them.

London-animal-behaviouristAnita completed her cat behaviour studies with Roger Tabor and with this certification went on to enrol at Middlesex University to extend her studies. She is now in the second year of studying a BA hons in Cat Psychology. She has been accepted as a full member of The Canine and Feline Behaviour Association and is one of their regular contributors on feline related articles for their on-line magazine. Pet Style Magazine Style Tails also publishes feline related articles by Anita.

Her cat behaviour practice, based in the heart of Notting Hill, is doing extremely well and is well known by vets all over London.

A strong supporter of The Mayhew Animal Home Anita occasionally offers up her time to assist as a volunteer cat re-homing officer which involves visiting peoples homes to ensure they are suitable for the cat in question.

Anita’s debut book ‘Claws – Confessions Of A Cat Groomer’ is released on 7th September 2017. Published by John Blake it can be pre-ordered on Amazon HERE.
